{April 24, 2012}   Beverage Caddy with Handle

I recently read an article that said multitasking doesn’t exist. When you think you’re multitasking, your brain is actually focusing on one thing at a time. More accurately, you’re probably doing one thing well and totally messing up the other one. Have you ever tried talking on the phone while typing? It’s pretty much impossible – I usually end up typing what I’m saying instead of what I meant to write. If you want something to get done, you’re better off doing it without any distractions.

This is especially true if that something is carrying anything fragile or breakable as you are most certainly going to fall if you try to overload yourself. I know, I dish the advice but I’m never gonna take it because there’s no way I’m making multiple trips when I can stack and tilt myself into one. The Beverage Caddy with Handle (Taylor Gifts, $19.98) sees your need for efficiency and raises you a sense of security. Instead of grabbing everyone’s drinks by smooshing them together waitress style (seriously harder than it looks), simply stick them in this caddy. It has slots for 11 drinks that are deep enough to both hold your bevs as well as ensuring that they won’t tip over if you jostle the caddy a bit. You can fit just about any size cup or glass in here, but I think you’re out of luck with the Big Gulp.

If you have more than 11 drinks to carry, congratulations! You win the friend contest!

3 out of 5 stars.

Specs:

-Dimensions: 14″ diameter
-Holds 11 drinks
-Accommodates all cup sizes
-Deep drink wells
-Made of plastic

{April 23, 2012}   Tether Stemware Saver

I’m at that age where I’ve started to replace my adolescent items with ones of a more mature variety. For example, I recently started drinking wine with more purpose than simply to get wasted but I still feel like a college when sipping out of a colorful plastic goblet. So I went out and bought a few actual wine glasses – nothing fancy, yet streets ahead of my old college dishware.

Just because I’m graduated from plasticware to actual glass doesn’t mean that I’m actually gonna hand wash it so the Tether Stemware Saver (Amazon, $9.26) is a must. Sure, you could take your chances and put your precious wine glasses anywhere in the dishwasher, but who’s to say your mugs or other glasses won’t start pushing and shoving once you close the door? Better safe than sorry with these flexible dishwasher attachments that slide over your dishwasher’s posts on one end and clip onto the wine glass stem on the other. Because they’re flexible yet sturdy, these tethers are suitable for both top and bottom dishwasher racks (depending on the size of your stemware and the fullness of your dishwasher).

Wine not?

5 out of 5 stars.

Specs:

-Dimensions: 7.7″ x 1.4″ x 3″
-Flexible dishwasher attachment
-Pack of 4
-Hollow base slide over dishwasher post
-End clasp clips onto wine glass stem
-Top or bottom rack dishwasher safe

{April 12, 2012}   Scorzie

Now that Mother Nature seems to have gotten over her week of hot flashes, the weather is back to its normal bleak self. While I do miss the abundance of sunshine, I have to admit that it did worry me that we were experiencing summer temperatures in the middle of March – if it was already 80 degrees in springtime, how hot would it be once summer hit? I look forward to basking in the month-appropriate weather soon.

You’ll know when the first day of summer is because everyone and their brother will be out on their front porch, most of whom will be enjoying a frosty adult beverage. For these occasions, the Scorzie (Convenient Gadgets & Gifts, $14.95) is a no-brainer. Made of durable stainless steel, this coozie is unlike any other in your extensive drink-cooling collection because it’s also a scoreboard. Say what?! There are two different colored score rings at the top of the beverage holder that you can use to keep score in pretty much any game as long as points don’t exceed a maximum of 21. The score rings click into place so you don’t have to worry about them sliding around as you booze the day away.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that there probably isn’t too much you’re worrying about in general if your biggest issue is how to simultaneously drink and keep score.

4 out of 5 stars.

Specs:

-Scorekeeping beverage holder
-Ideal for games up to 21 points
-Home and Away score rings
-Foam insert keeps drink cool
-Foam lined bottom prevents slipping and scratching
-Stainless steel body

{April 03, 2012}   Walk ‘n’ Clean Mop Slippers

Last week I talked about how my house is always in some state of filth, mostly due to pet ownership. I’d like to let you know that nothing has changed – I’m still too lazy to clean on a regular basis and generally only give the place a thorough scrub down when company is coming. I actually meant to clean over the weekend, but then I remembered I’m way too lazy and it didn’t happen. This is a fairly common occurrence.

For all the lazy folks out there, I present the Walk ‘n’ Clean Mop Slippers (Latest Buy, $19.95)! Now you can clean you floors without expending any extra energy by using these clever slippers. Microfiber soles are attached via Velcro to the underside of each slipper, effortlessly cleaning your floors simply by walking. See, the dust and whatnot (pet hair included) get trapped in the microfiber and when you’re done moseying about, you peel off the soles and throw them in the wash. Not only is it easier on you, but it’s also better for the environment because the soles are reusable. Laziness really is the best option.

In order to properly clean, you will actually have to get out of bed and move about your place. I know – total drag.

4 out of 5 stars.

Specs:

-Dimensions: 10″ x 3.9″
-Easy floor cleaning
-Microfiber soles
-Soles attached with Velcro
-Safe for all floor types
-Removable for washing
-Machine washable
-One size fits all (see site)

{March 21, 2012}   Table Tidy Tray and Bin

One of the perks of having a small kitchen (perhaps the only perk) is that I don’t have to go very far to clean up my dishes at the end of the night. I would probably go crazy if I had to clean up a proper kitchen space or, heavens to betsy, a dining room. Even now I usually try to grab as many things as I can carry all at once so I don’t have to make another trip. Imagine if you could manage that without the constant fear of breaking all your dishes?

The Table Tidy Tray and Bin (Not On The High Street, $48.99) has space for your dishes as well as silverware so you can carry clean ones to the table and dirty ones away from it. The plates stack on top of a rubber grid that keeps them from jostling and the silverware fits neatly in the side bin. When you’re ready to clear the table, scrape the scraps into the bin itself and replace the cover. Then put the silverware business-end down into the side bin and restack dirty plates onto the rubber grid. One trip to the sink/dishwasher and you’re set!

Now only if there was a way to integrate glasses into this!

5 out of 5 stars.

Specs:

-Dimensions: 12.5cm x 27.5cm x 24.5cm
-Easily carry dishes to and from table
-Rubber grid for plates
-Side bin for silverware
-Waste bin underneath rubber grid
-Made of plastic and rubber
